Jøtul receives, yet again, the international and highly prestigious “red dot design award”
With its outstanding and innovative design, the Jøtul F 470 Concept managed to impress the jury of one of the most prestigious international design competitions. In the “red dot award: product design 2010” the Jøtul F 470 Concept was awarded the “red dot” value label for high design quality by a jury consisting of top class experts. This distinction adds to the success of the woodstove Jøtul F 373 for which Jøtul received the “red dot design award: best of the best” in 2007.

Jøtul launch the stunning new F470 Concept
Specialist wood burning stove manufacturer Jøtul has launched its stunning new range the F470 concept. Each freestanding model in cast iron features a distinctive tear drop shape with large curved glass door that slides seamlessly upwards in a guillotine opening mechanism. This unique design feature allows easy access to restocking the burn chamber in both an innovative and practical way.
There are five variations of the F470 concept: Jøtul F 471 includes in its cast iron base a removable shelf for wood storage, Jøtul F 473 (pictured right) includes a pedestal base and optional turn plate which enables the stove to be rotated 360dgs when fitted with a top flue outlet making the flames visible from every corner of the room, Jøtul F 474 (pictured left) has a tear drop shaped pillar base providing an elegant finish to the overall design, Jøtul F 475 features a cast iron base with an opaque black glass door, concealing the storage area and projecting a subdued flame reflection into the room, and finally the Jøtul F 476 which includes soap stone sides which not only accumulate the heat, but also provide an additional design feature for the perfect ‘heating furniture’ finish.

Wood burning stove wins international prize for design Norwegian Jøtul ranks in the international design world’s top division together with Porsche and Prada. The wood-burning stove, Jøtul F 373, is the first Norwegian product to have won the renowned ‘red dot’ award: best of the best.
“It’s great that we are the first Norwegian winners of this prestigious prize.
The Jøtul F 370 concept is designed as modern and exclusive furniture with particular appeal for women. Women are the major decision makers when it comes to purchases for the home. This prize proves once again that we have got it right,” says Erik Moe, Jøtul’s President & CEO.

Ratos new main owner of Jøtul
- Ratos is acquiring 62.5% of the Norwegian wood burning stove and fireplace manufacturer Jøtul
- Ratos's investment amounts to approximately NOK 235m
- Jøtul's previous main owner, Accent Equity, will stay on with a 22.5% stake in the company
- Jøtul, which is Scandinavia's leading manufacturer of wood-burning stoves, reported pro forma EBITDA of NOK 90m in 2005 on sales of approximately NOK 775m
Established in 1853, Jøtul has shown strong growth during the past ten years, with average annual sales growth of 10%. The company's products are sold around the world, primarily through specialty stores, but in some markets also through the do-it-yourself trade. Jøtul's market share in Scandinavia is roughly 25%, while its global market share is just under 10%. The company has production plants in Norway, Denmark, the USA and France. In all, Jøtul has 740 employees in six countries.
